I love this picture…

because she’s happy

because it’s her favorite spot

because she has no idea how to play it and she doesn’t care

because she’s only 13 months old and loves music

because it makes her happy

because it makes her daddy smile

because I can’t help but think about how much this picture is the antithesis of what you see on Sunday morning in most churches…

Why?

because we didn’t put in enough time learning the words, so we’re watching the screens for the next lyric

because even though we smile sometimes, it’s only to get those watching to smile

because we’ve got beef with the drummer

because our speakers aren’t big enough

because our lights aren’t bright enough

because more people go to the “other” church

because somewhere along the way we’ve lost the joy

or maybe because we’ve messed it all up and there’s no way we can look God in the face

LISTEN UP!

God cares more about your heart than your light show, desires your attention more than once or twice a week and loves YOU in spite of you.

It’s time to find the joy again,

let that joy that’s been buried deep down inside well up and explode this weekend!

New Life Christmas – free dowload

Last year at NorthRidge I had the amazing privilege of leading worship at a special Christmas event called “New Life Christmas”. At the very last minute we decided to record the evening in hopes of having this awesome night for our own memories. The night of I was talking with some of our audio engineers and the band and we were blown away with how God showed up that night that we just had to somehow share it with whoever would listen. So we took the musical portion of the night and with the help of our very own Mike Austin we mixed it down into what you are about to hear and released it last year as a free Christmas album. I wanted to share it with you again this year. So if you would kindly pass this along to anyone you wish that would be much appreciated.

Opening for Phil Wickham

I’m excited to announce that on November 13th I will be opening for Phil Wickham. On top of that I have the honor of supporting Chris and Conrad and my very good friend Danny and his project Breath and Dirt. Ben Worchester reviews The Outloud EP

a good friend of mine (whom I’ve never met face to face, more on that later) just recently wrote a review of The Outloud EP… but don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself

If you use loops and sequences at your church, then Ben’s Blog is a must! I frequently go there to see what amazing things he’s come up with for some of the most relevant songs that The Church is singing.
