What Emerging Leaders Need To Excel
Last week Dan Sadlier asked if I would take part in a blog series called Letters From The Future. Each post would be from a young, emerging leader and would answer the question “what do you need from your leader(s) to excel?”
Rather than search the infinitely expanding blog world I wanted to share out of my own practical experiences what I believe to be 5 key things that emerging...

I spent this past week in Atlanta with 45,000 of my closest friends participating inPassion2012. I’m still digesting everything that I experienced while at Passion this year but for now I wanted to share with you just one of the many incredible things accomplished for the cause of Freedom this week.
So… you’ll be excited to hear that the actual total was over 3 MILLION...

Favorite Albums of 2011
@WalrusAudio tweeted this
and that got me thinking about some of my favorite music from this past year. So, I sorted my iTunes library by year and took a look and a listen back through this past year of the music that I made a conscious effort to consume (more on that later). Here are some of my favorite albums and artists from 2011… it was a good year for music.

Finish It.
If you’re anything like me you have a task list that is never ending let alone ever empty. That’s not a bad thing; in fact that means that you have stuff to do. Very important stuff.
When it comes to projects (those BIG things that include lots of little things in order to come together) are you willing to do what it takes to see it through to the very end? Miguel Endara did.

Gridlock And The Creative Roadblock
Every day I take the same route to work
5 years, the same route. It gets me from point A (our apartment) to point B (NorthRidge).
Until 3 weeks ago…
Three weeks ago I left with plenty of time to get to my office on time and then I hit the worst traffic EVER. I don’t know why I sat in that traffic as long as I did but by the time I pulled into the parking lot at NorthRidge I had been...

it’s a 25mph speed zone
lazy people are boring people
Autopilot will get you fired

Here is the recap video for this years Fall Retreat “Greater Than”. It was an honor to be able to lead our high school students in worship. Our production team did an incredible job on two back to back weekends worth of students. A HUGE thank you to Sandon, who shot and edited this video.

The City
Ok. A timelapse of a city… something that’s been done… a lot. But, this is a timelapse that took a year! One year. Oh, and the artist walked, or rode his bike to get the shots. One year, no car, lots of walking, setting up, getting the shot, packing up, hopping on his bike, and heading to another location.
How dedicated are you to your current project? Do you love it enough...

The Art Of Being
I’ve been following the journey of Chase Jarvis for a couple of years now. Chase is BIG TIME, but you wouldn’t know it. I’m always grateful for the wisdom that he brings to the table for the creative class. The following is no exception:
“Whatever it is that you do in the world, if you can carve out time to create and separate yourself from your normal routine… you...

Never Beyond... The Hood
Continuing the Never Beyond series for People Of The Second Chance. This is part #3.
I’ll never forget it. I was maybe 15 when my grandpa told me casually “oh yea…you’re great great uncle was in the clan. Matter of fact I think the hood is around here somewhere”.

The Gospel Portrayed In Video
I can’t take credit for “finding” this first. That goes to my friends over at ChurchMag.
The following is one of the most creative videos i’ve seen to portray scripture. I would watch a whole story from the Bible told this way using this medium.
What do you think? Amazing.

My Time On The Island
English clergyman John Donne said “No man is an island entirely of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main…” Too bad, because if the opposite were true, then I think that I would be Bois Blanc Island.
I’ve been coming here every summer since I was born. When I was in elementary and middle school my family and I would spend the majority of our...

Why I go.
A typical outreach trip recap video for us involves tons of footage and photos crammed into one songs length of time. It’s a great idea that attempts to show the entire trip in a condensed form and allows those who went to see their face and the face of those they impacted.
This time around I swung for the fences and tried something different… a conversation starter.
This is why I...

Who Would You Give A Second Chance?
People Of The Second Chance have invited me to join them in their Never Beyond Poster Series. Here’s a little bit of insight into the series from them:
We all have people we would and wouldn’t give a second chance — lines drawn and beliefs formed about who we could forgive.
Right?
POTSC is launching the NEVER BEYOND Poster Series: 25 posters representing well known historical, current...
